Something I Didn’t Know About Tsunamis September 30, 2009

A 10-year-old English girl, Tilly Smith, saved nearly a hundred lives with this knowledge (drawback, water receding before wave hits) ahead of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. She had learned about drawback in a geography lesson and warned her family, who in turn told others. She has since given a speech at the United Nations and had an asteroid named after her: 20002 Tillysmith.
