Joe Biden: BFD March 24, 2010

Oh boy. The bible bumpers over in FOXworld are up in arms because the vice president whispered a no-no word in the president’s ear. Big fucking deal. Are we all of a sudden expecting our leaders to be choir boys? Lyndon Johnson used to conduct informal press conferences while seated on the presidential “throne” and could legendarily make a Navy chief petty officer blush with his tirades. Richard Nixon didn’t just make an accidental off-hand comment into an open microphone. He recorded his misogynist racist xeonophobic rants in the Oval Office 24/7. Even Dwight Eisenhower, who was perhaps one of the most genteel of twentieth century presidents, was an ex-five-star general, so we can safely assume that he was reasonably fluent in profanity. The righties may be bitching about Biden’s “gaffe” in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek manner, but they’re bitching nonetheless. The whole conservative choirs long screeching whine after passage of health care reform has the feeling of grasping at straws and the faint waft of desperation.
